Whether you’ve recently noticed a few hairs on your pillow or you’re constantly checking your bald spot in the mirror to see if it’s grown, chances are you’ve tried products to slow your hair loss. Though there are a wide variety of hair loss products out there, not all of them are trustworthy. All too often, hair loss products are just away for companies to capitalize on men’s insecurities. When you have a receding hairline or you’re going bald, it can be difficult to know which products to trust.

Unfortunately, you may need to come to terms with the fact that not much can be done about hair loss. Keeping or losing your hair is genetic— some natural remedies can make your hair healthier and stronger. They can also slow your hair loss, but only slightly. They won’t prevent you from eventually going bald, if it’s in your genes. Still, most men find that it is worth it to eat well and use trustworthy hair products and treatments to prevent hair loss and keep their head of hair as thick and full as possible.

Some hair loss cures are currently being developed to address genetic hair loss. However, many of these are still a substantial number of years away from hitting the market. So, what can you rely on now to combat hair loss? Check out some of the following remedies for hair loss.

Hair Loss Shampoos

Hair loss shampoos are a guy’s first line of defense against thining hair and a receding hair line. While shampoos and sprays cannot stop hair loss in its tracks, they can help. These products help to keep your scalp healthy, improving the strength and fullness of the hairs you still have. They include nutrients that can make your hair more robust and less likely to fall out. In addition, some of these shampoos and sprays contain natural ingredients that stimulate blood circulation in the scalp, ensuring that follicles stay nourished. Opt for a brand with organic essential oils, such as peppermint, rosemary, and spearmint, and check to make sure the formula doesn’t contain chemicals such as parabens or sulfates.

Hair Loss Cures: Do They Work?

You might be surprised to find that certain hair loss treatments can help target thinning hair. Though they perhaps don’t qualify as cures, treatments such as laser light therapy and hair replacement surgery can indeed help. Similar to scalp-stimulating shampoos, laser light therapy helps to improve the health of hair follicles. Though it can’t help you grow new hair, it is more effective than a shampoo. Hair replacement surgery is another acceptable option. Improvements in technology and techniques mean that hair plugs look far more realistic than they once did. Some hair replacement surgery techniques don’t even leave a scar, and recovery time is only three to five days. Regrowth rates are high and patients who undergo the surgery appear to be satisfied with the result. Other products, such as FDA-approved hair loss treatment drugs, can also help to stimulate hair regrowth instead of loss.
